After being in two car accidents that were not my fault, I was so happy when I was gifted with a Baseus Prime Trip VD1 Pro Dash Cam! It is the world’s first dash cam that combines a solar panel and lithium battery, delivering 14-day parking surveillance with no hardwiring required. No hardwiring means either myself or my husband can do this and we won’t need to take it to a technician to have it installed.
They also say it is extremely easy to install, so let’s see if it is.
First, let’s talk about the dash cam specs
If you aren’t a tech person, you can just skip to the installation process but for all those who love to know all the specs, I have those for you below.
Front Camera:
4K 800W UHD, 3840×2160P @30fps
FOV: 140°, ±15° adjustable, total 170° coverage
The front camera features Sony’s IMX335 STARVIS sensor paired with an f/1.6 six-element glass lens, and real-time HDR processing to reduce noise and manage challenging lighting conditions, minimizing exposure fluctuations in environments such as tunnels or areas with mixed lighting.
Rear Camera:
1920×1080P @25fps, FOV 120°
It also has HDR functionality, which makes images more realistic and details clearer.
The built-in G Sensor has 3 levels:
- High sensitivity: Pedestrian collision
- Medium sensitivity: Low-speed rear-end collision
- Low sensitivity: High-speed collision
This dash cam will start recording after the G sensor detects a collision and automatically saves & locks video. It records simultaneous 30-second clips from both front and rear cameras, storing up to 20 incident events (a total of 40 clips) to ensure critical footage is preserved independently of the car’s electrical system.

Pre-Installation
When we received the package we opened it up and made sure all of the parts were there and nothing was missing. The items in the package are:
- Dash Cam
- Car charger
- USB-A to USB-C cable
- Rear camera
- 3M adhesive pad
- Static clean film
- Pry tool
- User manual
- Micro SD card
Step 1: Determining the proper position
The best place to position the front dash cam is near the rear-view mirror and within the wiper coverage area so that the windshield is always clean.
Step 2: Mounting the front dash cam
Clean the windshield thoroughly on the inside so that it is free of dust and debris.
Apply the static cling film evenly to the clean windshield area.
Peel off the 3M adhesive backing and press the dash cam firmly onto the film.
Avoid moving or hitting the device after installation to ensure stability and good adhesive contact.
Here is how it looks from the outside. The top section is the solar area and the bottom section is the camera.
Step 3: Connecting the power
Take the USB-A to USB-C power supply cable and connect the car charger to the 12V socket.
Tuck the cord into the trim of the roof liner and bring it down and round to the 12V socket plug in.
Then plug it into 12V plug in.
Step 4: Mounting the rear dash cam
Clean the rear windshield.
Peel the backing off of the sticker on the rear dashcam.
Adhere to the top of the center of the rear window.
Tuck the wires into the trim of the roof liner.
Plug the cord into the display unit.
Step 5: Testing power
Turn your vehicle on and make sure that the dash cam powers on and records.
Step 6: Operation Guide
The dashcam automatically switches on when connected to power, or when the power button is pressed.
To turn off, simply hold the power button for 2 seconds, or disconnect power.
Press the power button to turn screen on/off.
After activation, the dashcam enters standby sleep mode, instantly waking upon detecting abnormal vibration/collision or significant moving objects near your vehicle to record Full HD event videos with protected storage.
It also features voice control with English commands, delivering a safer and more convenient driving experience. Voice command phrases include:
- Take picture
- Open screen
- Turn off display
- Lock the Video
- Open Recording
- Turn off Recording

- Show Rear Camera
