Have you ever purchased something that makes you smile or warms your heart every time you look at it? I am quite particular about what I buy so it better make my heart sing or else it isn’t coming home with me. I live in a mid-sized town and I find our shopping choices are limited. I don’t have a lot of disposable money so there are a few shops I would love to shop in but I cannot afford to pay $230 for a decorative pillow case. Could you?
During the pandemic, my children introduced me to shopping on line. Wow, now that is a dangerous thing. I definitely like shopping local and supporting small businesses, which I do whenever I can but unfortunately I could not find any small business that specialized in garden accessories. So online I went and I want to share with you what I found. If you are interested in any of the items, click the caption below the photo and you will be taken directly to the selling site.
The Most Welcoming Welcome Mat!
When I saw this adorable door mat I knew it needed to reside at our back door!!! Isn’t it cute? I felt if was perfect because each time a family member comes home, they know this message is directed at them. I always want people to feel loved and reminded that they are special to me.
Who doesn’t like solar lights? Especially these ones!
So let’s wander out into the garden. Did you know I have an obsession with solar lights? Well, I do. I have so many all over our property hidden here and there. It brings me so much joy to see them one by one light up in the evening. These mason jars solar lights are probably my favourite of all my solar lights. They remind me of fire flies, not that I have ever seen fire flies in real life but I imagine this is what they would look if I had some buzzing around in a jar to light my way on an evening journey. I hang these on gates, off of my flower cart, on the picket fence, or off of a little hanger on either side of the door, you name it they look so pretty in all locations.
While on the topic of solar lights, here are some crescent moon ones. Look how pretty the light casts out of the crackle glass and brightens up the gold interior of the moon.
And look at the reflection it leaves on the wall. These are just outside my kitchen window in planters along our deck. They bring such a warm feeling to the area.

Okay, so please indulge me while I show you another set of lights that I added this year. They aren’t as unique as the others but they add such a lovely glow over the pool as night falls that I had to share them with you.
Forget the typical wreath and get a door basket!!!
This is my first door basket and I love it. It actually came as a set of two and it has a plastic liner so you can actually put fresh flowers in it. Here it is hanging on the door handle which I thought was so cute being off to one side and not what we traditionally think of always having to be in the centre of the door.
Look at it on my greenhouse door! I think it is the perfect alternative to a wreath especially on a cottage or garden style home and it even worked on our large contemporary front door because of it’s simplicity. I use plastic suction cup hangers to keep it in place but you could also tie a ribbon and have it hang from the top of the door.
While we are on the topic of the greenhouse, in case you are new to my blog, you don’t want to miss the whole story of our sweet greenhouse named Annie. Click this link to learn all about her!

Wind spinners – they bring peace and a little whimsy to my yard!
My kids got me my first wind spinner which I have featured in a post and many stories. I loved it so much I purchased another one and this one is in my garden.
I love how when it really gets going the centre appears to spin in a different direction. This one is on a very sturdy stand and rotates to whichever way the wind is blowing.
Well there you have it, a stroll through my outdoor living areas with a few new additions that bring such joy to our family and life to my garden. I hope you enjoyed it and that you are able to take some time to enjoy your yard, garden, patio, whatever it is you may have that gets you outside enjoying what we have left of summer. Wishing you a beautiful day!

August 17, 2021Thank you! Mesmerizing you say, hmmmmm that just gave me a good idea, perhaps I could hypnotize you with it! I see a potting bench, possibly a small garden shed for garden tools, or maybe a bigger greenhouse? Ok time to get you out by the spinner and see if this works lol
