LIVING ROOM/GREAT ROOM
1. Valentine’s tree
A big statement piece that could set the tone for your whole home is to leave your Christmas tree up and decorate it. This achieves two purposes. First you can get more life out of your Christmas tree and second it is a large-scale decoration.

This year I was gifted this beautiful 15 foot Balsam Fir narrow tree from Balsam Hill (#BalsamHillCaPartnership) and what a beauty it is. It provided me with a large canvas for so many Valentine’s day decorations.
In the winter months, our living room can be a bit dark so this large tree is a great way to warm it up. All the pink decor resulted in an elegant look and it is so romantic too!
Last year I had a smaller tree and decorated it like this. Click here to read the full post on it.

2. Romantic mini wreath diy’s
One of the items that I used to decorate the Valentine’s tree with was these small twig wreaths I made with dollar store pink flowers.

I will continue to use these simple Valentine’s decorations for spring decor and may place them on the back of chairs, on a window or group them together as a set of three wreaths in a row on a mirror.

3. Wood hearts
These white wood hearts were once a deep red and were actually Christmas ornaments.

I thought they would make better Valentine’s ornaments so I painted them white and added beads, ribbon, flowers, etc. This was also another easy diy.

4. Flower balls
This was also a simple diy I did by hot gluing faux flowers to a styrofoam ball.

With a variety of faux flowers you could make them all different to add interest.

5. Ribbon bows
Ribbon bows are really hot this year. Did you see everyone using them this past Christmas on their mantels or in trees? Well now we can use pink ones for a Valentine’s tree or you could place them on your mantel too!
6. Faux flowers
Faux flowers in a Valentine’s tree is a perfect way to fill in spaces. The faux flowers look so beautiful when the lights shine through them or around them. That soft pink glow is romantic and peaceful.

Always keep a look out for easy ways like this to keep your Valentine’s decor going through your home.
7. Amazon decor
Don’t forget to look on Amazon for decor like these pink heart shape ornaments. I loved all the different shades of pink they came in.

8. Dollar store (Dollarama/Dollar Tree) decorations
While on the topic of inexpensive Valentine’s decor don’t forget about your local dollar store. A few pieces that I loved that came from the dollar store are these cute pink birds and paper foil hearts.

9. Gold heart garland
This is also an Amazon find and was the perfect touch for our fireplace that does not have a mantel. It gave our fireplace a fresh look.

It also looks beautiful in many different areas such as in a tree, over a window, or on a mirror.
10. Handmade heart garland
I made this garland from scrapbook paper and it looked fabulous in my tree from last year. You could also just make single paper hearts out of Valentine’s scrapbook paper and place them here and there around your house.

11. Pompom garlands
These garlands can go in lots of different places but this year I used them together with a dollar store Happy Valentine’s Day banner on our other fireplace mantel.
12. An old window
Yes, an old window! I created the cutest little ode to love by making some lace hearts, attaching a love letter to one of the panes, etc. This has to be one of my favorite ways to celebrate Valentine’s and love in a unique way. Click here for all the details.

13. Wood heart wreath diy
This is a simple project but it looks so good. Valentine’s day door decorations are rare to see other than the red tinsel type heart wreaths from the dollar store. Make sure to check out all my diy Valentine’s day wreaths on my site by clicking here.

14. Heart wall hanger
Another diy Valentine’s day decoration is this beautiful heart with faux flowers on it. You could hang this on a wall, a door or even a mirror. The possibilities are endless. Click here to learn how to make this.

15. Birdhouses with flowers
You can take other pieces of home decor that you wouldn’t consider to be Valentine’s decor and simply add some beautiful faux flowers to give them that romantic feel. These birdhouses are a perfect example of using something unique to express your love or bring a little more pink to your home. It is creative Valentine’s day ideas like this that will take your decorating to the next level.

16. Bring a touch of the outdoors inside
This next idea is the perfect addition to just about any room. Simply take a planter such as this outdoor urn, place a candle in the middle and surround it with beautiful dusty rose faux roses. Lastly add a simple ribbon and you have a very classy and elegant yet unexpected piece to add to your Valentine’s decor.

Here is what the rest of the shelf looks like styled with gold slim candlesticks and a rattan heart.

17. Youtube art for TV
A wonderful way to add a large piece of artwork is to show Youtube art on your TV. Look how nice this looks rather than a black screen!

18. Make use of dried flowers
An easy way to bring some romantic pink hues to your space is by filling a basket with dried hydrangea. The soft pink with creamy golds is perfect for Valentine’s.

19. Quick seasonal art
Take a frame and fill it with some quick art from Canva or online that matches your Valentine’s color scheme like this pretty photo of pink roses.

DINING ROOM & KITCHEN
20. Chandelier florals
Never forget to add some romantic touches to your chandeliers like these faux wisteria vines and simple heart ornaments.

21. Pink dishware
If you have any pink dishware, now is the time to incorporate it into your decor like pink depression ware or even pink floral china as seen below.

22. Bring the romance to the table
Creating a romantic tablescape on your dining table or kitchen table is oh so sweet.

On our table this year, I created low floral arrangements with a dollar store heart tiered shelf as the centerpiece. Battery operated tealights sprinkled down the table will light the table with a warm glow.

I layered a pink charger plate with white and pink floral china and a cute little heart shaped dish also from the dollar store.

All together it amounts to breathtaking Valentine’s day table decor.
23. Low vase for floral arrangements
Try out the all new acrylic low vases for fresh flowers. This is the vase I used in the tablescape above. It got a thumbs up from everyone in our family because they felt it was classy, unique and it did not impede the sight lines at the table!!! It was a win, win, win!!!

24. Floral arrangements
Can we ever have too many flowers? I think not and nothing says Valentine’s like some real or even faux flowers in a simple vase or a whole arrangement.

25. Tea towels
If you don’t want to have too much decor in your kitchen and want a more minimalist approach, simply add some pretty tea towels to carry the theme in a subdued way through your home.

26. DIY Art
How about trying some simple do-it-yourself art like this cherry blossom painting I did. Click here for all the details.

This angel wing painting that I did for my mom is also making a nice backdrop for Valentine’s.

27. Back of chair wreaths
There are so many options with back of chair wreaths for Valentines like:
- you could hang one of the twig ones I made for the tree;
- a boxwood wreath with a simple ribbon;
- this heart from the dollar store with a floral ribbon; or
- simply a bow.

28. Recover a book
Make your own book covers by covering it with scrapbook paper or brown paper or stacking a few books together and titling them with “Love never fails”. It is a simple way of sharing a message of love to all who will see it.

29. Beaded heart
Here is a very simple diy. Simply take a thick piece of wire, shape it into a heart and string beads on it. You could place this on a shelf, in a tablescape, hang it in front of a window or mirror, or a small enough one could be used as a napkin ring.

30. Shine up the silver
Bring out your silver set and place it amongst floral arrangements or simply place a rose in a silver bowl.

FOOD
Decorations don’t just need to be decor, you can also decorate with food. Here are some examples:
31. Heart kabobs
Fruit can easily be cut into heart shapes, like watermelon, strawberries and grapes.

This sweetheart cake is so pretty and delicious along with the chocolate dipped strawberries. Click here for the recipe.

32. Roses in ice cube with balloons
Fill waterballoons with water and then stuff roses inside and freeze. These make great ice cubes to place around a bottle of bubbly.

33. Prosecco rose mold ice cubes
Pour cranberry juice and edible glitter into rose molds and then freeze. Later place the ice cube in a fancy glass and pour Prosecco over it for a pretty yet delicious drink to celebrate Valentine’s with.
