Fun & Easy Fall Gardening Ideas

Just because summer is over, it doesn't mean you have to put your garden to bed. Why not give it a refresh with some expected and unexpected items?

Large Radish

During the summer I grew sunflowers, pumpkins and rudbeckia in my round raised garden.  As fall settled in, I wanted to do something interesting to take it through to winter.

I had an abundance of pumpkins in a variety of different colors.

Rinse and dry your squash. Slice off the stem and bottom ends of the squash, so that both ends are flat. Slice the squash in half and lightly salt.

First I color grouped the pumpkins and then laid them out around the planter.

The Cinderella Rouge pumpkins were perfect for stacking.  Next I had to coordinate the pumpkins with mums according to color.

I planted some yellow and light orange mums around them along with kale and lavender.

My Atlantic Giant pumpkins looked great with white mums
